When we met Mathias Duhamel and learned about his unique talent for capturing the spirit of companies like ours and conveying it on canvas, we were a little skeptical about how this could be applied to Merial. Mathias met with several of our employees and talked with them at length about our company and our employees. He perceived that we are a company whose employees are personally and professionally dedicated to the well-being of animals, and that the lives of animals are inextricably linked to humankind. We were simply amazed at the way Mathias interpreted this in the beautiful painting he created for us. But then he made the painting even more special and personal to the employees of Merial. Merial is a global company with sites all over the world. Since 2007 marked the tenth anniversary of the founding of our company, we devised a way for our employees to take part in the creation of our Duhamel painting. Mathias left sections of the painting unfinished so that we could send the canvas to dozens of Merial locations in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia so that the sections could be completed by our employees. He even designed and built the special shipping container and developed clear instructions for his Merial artist apprentices. The result is a work of art that means a great deal to our company, and one which gave us a unique opportunity to share in its creation.' Quand nous avons rencontré Mathias Duhamel et découvert son talent très spécifique à capturer et mettre sur une toile l'esprit des entreprises comme la nôtre, nous étions un peu sceptiques quant à sa façon de déceler notre propre esprit. Mathias a donc rencontré notre personnel et lui a posé de multiples questions pour mieux comprendre ce qui animait notre société et ses employés. Non seulement il a bien saisi que, dans notre entreprise, chacun est personnellement et professionnellement dévoué au bien-être des animaux mais encore que ces vies animales ont des liens inextricables avec l'humanité. Nous sommes tout simplement séduits par la façon dont cet artiste a su interpréter cela pour nous et son oeuvre est remarquable. Mais en plus de cela, à partir de sa création, il a fait quelque chose d'encore plus spécial et personnel envers nos employés. Merial est une société internationale disposant de filiales dans de nombreux pays. Comme 2007 marquait le 10è anniversaire de sa création, nous avons cherché une façon de faire participer le personnel à cette création artistique. Mathias a donc laissé des parties de son oeuvre à compléter par le personnel et a prévu des instructions claires pour que chacun d'entre nous puisse exprimer sa propre fibre artistique. Pour que tout soit parfait, il a aussi designé et fait construire une flight-case spéciale qui nous a permis de faire voyager sa toile dans des dizaines de filiales : en Amérique du Nord et du Sud, en Europe, en Afrique et en Asie. This is the representation of a shared and collective discovering of a forgotten, wonderful Nature, which is something everyone now wants to protect, and which suddenly appears essential and simple for us. This painting shows the meaning and happiness to be found in working together. This is what Bonduelle's large family experiences every day. We held a special New Year ceremony day for the unveiling of the canvas which is now hung in the reception area of our Bonduelle HQ building. It did touch the heart of all the staff.'
